Surrey is a county placed in England’s southeast and it forms part of the Home Counties. Surrey borders Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, & Berkshire.

Although you might not think of Surrey as a great tourist destination, we believe that it’s the perfect location to enjoy a weekend away or holiday. With fantastic heritage sites, some superb green spaces & fabulous shopping opportunities, a visit to Surrey really does have something for everyone. The best thing is, its well served by road & train connections, so you will find it simple to get to it from London & a number of other British destinations.

Just take a quick look at the tourist guide to Surrey below & you will soon find out all the coolest things to do during your stay in Surrey.

Shopping Opportunities

If you'd like to shop until you drop in Surrey, you'll find some exciting market towns that have many locations for you to bag a bargain. Cranleigh is one of our favourite spots, it is renowned as the largest village in Britain and it has a quaint high street to match its rustic character. It also has a busy market every Tuesday and a sizeable supermarket that caters to your every day needs.

On the other hand, you could try Oxted. Oxted is a beautiful location with a striking Tudor style high street that is dotted with a handful of chain shops and more specialist shops.

The Great Outdoors

With 22.4 per cent coverage of woods compared to the British average of 11.8 per cent, Surrey is the most wooded county in England. The county boasts numerous notable beauty spots, which include Box Hill, Leith Hill, Frensham Ponds & the Puttenham & Crooksbury Commons. In actual fact, Box Hill boasts the oldest untouched place of natural woods in England & it is also one of the oldest in Europe.

These superb places of woods make Surrey the perfect place for walkers, ramblers & cyclists to visit.

Family Fun

If you're looking for a fantastic family day trip, you could go to one of the open days in Busbridge Lakes for a beautiful picnic. Alternatively, you could take in the pretty scenery located around the beautiful Chinley Heinh Semaphore Tower or even in Outwood, which houses the oldest fully functioning windmill in Britain. The highly adventurous visitor could also consider taking a boat ride along the Wey Navigation or even embarking on a bike ride along the Downs Link Path.

As well as these outdoor activities, you'll also be pleased to know that the Surrey towns of Leatherhead, Chertsey and Farnham have a handful of fantastic museums, including the Ash Museum. For art lovers, there is also the Forge & Dragon galleries or the Wints Picture Galleries, both of which display some very impressive work. Alternatively, you could visit the fantastic Hogs Back Brewery in Tongham, which has over 500 types of beer for you to sample.
