Surrey is a county located in england's south east, which helps to make up the Home Counties. Surrey surrounds Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, & Berkshire.
Surrey council is located at kingston-upon-thames, even though the town has been part of Greater London since 1965. because of the county's closeness to London, Surrey has many commuter towns and villages, which has made it one of the most affluent areas in england.
There are plenty of reasons to drop by Surrey, but we've compiled some of the best and put them into the tourism guide below. Whether you are interested in walking, bike riding, exploring historic sites or even simply shopping, we're positive that you'll find something to interest you.
Surrey can be easily reached by road & train from the middle of london & its also within simple reach of many other great britain cities.
As we've probably already told you, Surrey is the most wooded county in great britain. This is represented by Surrey County Council's logo, which shows two linked oak leaves.
The varied landscape of the county includes aged woodlands, acid heaths and gorgeous grasslands. in actual fact, the Surrey Hills, which stretch across 1/4 of the county, are so gorgeous that they have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This location was created in 1958 and covers from Farnham to Oxted, and it extends further south to the wooded Greensand Hills near Haslemere.
If you are more interested in looking at historical places, museums and galleries, you will also find that Surrey has many to offer.
If you are planning a day trip for the whole family, take a trip to Chessington World of Adventures or Thorpe Park. These fun theme parks have some fabulous rides, so you are guaranteed to have a fabulous time there. on the other hand, there is the Rural Life Centre in Tilford, which offers a children's playground and miniature railway for younger children, or even Farnham’s bustling Birdworld and Underwater World, which gives you the chance to see some pretty animals.
For something a bit more educational, you will be pleased to know that Surrey has over forty museums. Some of our favourites are the army medical services museum, brooklands museum, east surrey museum and the guildford museum.
Surrey's many towns also have plenty of shopping opportunities that can be taken advantage of. Woking is especially commendable for shopping because it has the Peacock Centre, which contains well-known names, which include Marks & Spencer, Toys R Us and Next. in addition to this, Woking also has Wolsey Place Shopping - yet another mall with well-known names. there's also a market situated in Woking's Peacock Walk, which is open Monday to Saturday.
On the other hand, you will also find Dorking is a fantastic spot for shopping. It has St Martin's Walk, which is a brand new shopping precinct in the centre of town. despite this, the town centre also remains well known for its many antique shops. Dorking also has a busy market on Fridays in the car park on St Martin's Walk.
