Many people call Surrey the stockbroker belt, due to the large number of commuters who live there, but work in the heart of London. much of the county is made up of amazing countryside, woods and there's a number of lovely market towns and mills to enjoy.

Surrey is split into eleven boroughs & districts, which include Elmbridge, Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley and Woking.

Despite the vast amount of London commuters in Surrey, it's still a wonderful location to visit for a weekend away or holiday. After all, the county has amazing country side, wonderful stores, captivating market towns & some fabulous historic sites, so it offers something for everyone. in fact, whether you are a rambler, a cyclist or even merely an eager shopper, we're sure that you will find something to please you in this amazing county.

Surrey can be easily accessed from London by rail or road, which makes it the perfect location to visit for a day out, too.

With 22.4 percent woods coverage compared to the british average of 11.8 percent, Surrey is the most wooded county in britain. The county boasts numerous notable beauty spots, including Box Hill, Leith Hill, Frensham Ponds, Newland's Corner & the Puttenham & Crooksbury Commons. in fact, Box Hill has the most ancient untouched location of natural woodland in britain and one of the most ancient in Europe.

These great areas of woods make Surrey the perfect place for walkers, ramblers and cyclists to visit.

If you're looking for a excellent family day trip, you could attend the open day at Busbridge Lakes for a fabulous picnic. alternatively, you could take in the gorgeous scenery situated around the striking Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower or even at Outwood, which is home to the the oldest fully functioning windmill in great britain. The very adventurous visitor could also consider taking a boat trip along the Wey Navigation or even going on a bike ride along the Downs Link Path.

In addition to these outdoor pursuits, you will also be pleased to know that the Surrey towns of Leatherhead, Chertsey and Farnham have some excellent museums, including the Ash Museum. For art lovers, there is also the Forge & Dragon galleries or the Watts Picture Galleries, both of which exhibit some fine work. alternatively, you could visit the wonderful Hogs Back Brewery at Tongham, which has over 500 different beers for you to try.

Surrey's numerous towns also have plenty of shopping opportunities that can be taken advantage of. Woking is especially perfect for shopping as it has the Peacock Centre, which contains well known names, which include Marks & Spencer, Toys R Us and Next. in addition to this, Woking also has Wolsey Place Shopping - another shopping centre with well known names. there is also a market located in Woking's Peacock Walk, which is open Monday to Saturday.

On the other hand, you'll also find Dorking is a fantastic location for shopping. It has St Martin's Walk, which is a brand new shopping precinct in the middle of town. despite this, the town centre also remains well known for its numerous antique shops. Dorking also has a thriving market on Fridays in the car park on St Martin's Walk.
