Many people call Surrey the stock broker belt, because of the large amount of commuters who reside there, but work in the centre of London. much of the county is made up of beautiful countryside, woodland and there are several lovely market towns and mills to enjoy.

Surrey is split into 11 districts and boroughs, including Elmbridge, Ewell, Guildford, Mole Valley, Reigate and Banstead, Runnymede, Spelthorne, Surrey Heath, Tandridge, Waverley and Woking.

There are many reasons to visit Surrey, but we have compiled some of the best and put them into the tourism guide below. Whether you are interested in walking, bike riding, exploring historical sites or even simply shopping, we're positive that you will find something to interest you.

Surrey maybe easily reached by road and train from the middle of london and it's also within easy reach of numerous other great britain cities.

Much of Surrey is in the green-belt and it is the most wooded county in britain. There are many commons and access lands, in addition to a sizable network of footpaths and bridleways, which include the North Downs Way - a pretty long-distance path. for this reason, Surrey offers some exciting rural leisure activities, which include bike riding, rambling and riding.

Most of the land in the county is flat, although the highest point in Surrey is Leith Hill, which is near Dorking and stands at an impressive 294 metres above sea-level.

If you're looking for a fabulous family day out, you could attend an open day at Busbridge Lakes for a amazing picnic. alternatively, you could take in the breathtaking scenery situated around the beautiful Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower or even at Outwood, which is home to the the oldest working windmill in britain. The highly adventurous visitor can also consider taking a boat trip along the Wey Navigation or even going on a bike ride down the Downs Link Path.

As well as these outdoor activities, you'll also be happy to know that the Surrey towns of Leatherhead, Chertsey and Farnham boast a handful of fabulous museums, which include the Ash Museum. For art fans, there's also the Forge & Dragon galleries or the Watts Picture Galleries, both of which show some fine work. alternatively, you could visit the fantastic Hogs Back Brewery in Tongham, which has over 500 different beers for you to taste.

If you're planning to shop 'til you drop in Surrey, you will find that Guildford has everything you need and more. As well as numerous specialist shops, you will also find famous names such as House of Fraser, Debenhams, Boots, m & s and wh smith here. In addition to this, the town also has a top street market on Fridays and Saturdays.

For a more old fashioned shopping experience, stop over Farnham. This beautiful town remains truly old-fashioned with some fantastic specialist shops which are situated just below Farnham Castle.

With everything from rural rambles to first-class shopping opportunities, Surrey is a fabulous location to visit. If you have been unable to locate all the information you need from our very brief guide to the county, please get in touch with your regional tourist information who will be happy to assist you.
