Surrey is perceived as a wealthy suburban territory that houses plenty London commuters. for this reason, the area is often called the gin & jag, stockbroker belt or the patio of London. however, the county has much more to offer than just residences.

Indeed, 70 % of Surrey is green belt land, which can not be built on or turned into suburban houses. This makes the county a fantastic location for ramblers, horse riders and cyclists to visit for a peaceful day out.

Despite the large number of London commuters in Surrey, its still a great place to visit for a weekend break or holiday. After all, the county boasts gorgeous greenery, great stores, pretty market towns & some great tradition sites, so it offers something for everyone. in actual fact, whether you are a walker, a cyclist or even only an eager shopper, we are sure that you'll find something to entertain you in this gorgeous county.

Surrey can be accessed easily from London by rail or road, which makes it the ideal place to visit for a day out, too.

Most of Surrey is in the green-belt and it's the most wooded county in england. There are many commons and access lands, as well as a sizeable network of footpaths and bridleways, containing the North Downs Way - a captivating long-distance path. for this reason, Surrey offers some exciting rural leisure activities, containing cycling, rambling and horse riding.

Most of the land in the county is flat, although the highest point in Surrey is Leith Hill, which is close to Dorking and stands at an amazing 294 metres above sea-level.

If you're more interested in exploring historical sites, museums & art galleries, you'll also find that Surrey has plenty to offer you.

If you're planning a day out for the whole family, visit Chessington World of Adventures or Thorpe Park. These lively theme parks have some great rides, so you're guaranteed to have a great time there. on the other hand, there is the Rural Life Centre in Tilford, which offers a playground and sunday railway for younger children, or even Farnham's busy Birdworld and Underwater World, which gives you the opportunity to see some beautiful animals.

For something a bit more educational, you'll be pleased to know that Surrey boasts over forty museums. Some of our favourites are the army medical services museum, bourne hall museum, oakhurst cottage & the holmesdale natural history museum.

If you'd like to search in Surrey, you'll find some excellent market towns which have several places for you to grab a bargain. Cranleigh is one of our favourite places, it is well-known as the biggest village in england & it has a quaint high street to match its rustic character. It also has a busy market every Tuesday and a sizable supermarket that caters to your every day needs.

Alternatively, you could try Oxted. Oxted is a beautiful location with a beautiful Tudor style high street that is sprinkled with a handful of chain outlets & more specialist outlets.

With everything from rural hikes to first-class shopping opportunities, Surrey is a wonderful place to visit. If you've been unable to pinpoint all the information you require from our truly brief guide to the county, please get in touch with your nearby tourist information who will be happy to help you.

We hope you've enjoyed reading our surrey guide!
