Surrey is a county found in england's south east, which helps to make up the Home Counties. Surrey frontiers Greater London, Kent, East Sussex, West Sussex, Hampshire, & Berkshire.

Surrey council is found at kingston upon thames, although the town has been considered part of Greater London since 1965. because of the county's proximity to London, Surrey has many commuter towns and villages, which has made it one of the most affluent areas in britain.
Even though you might not immediately think of Surrey as a striking tourist destination, we believe that it is the ideal place to spend a weekend break or holiday. With wonderful legacy sites, some fantastic green spaces & fabulous shopping opportunities, a trip to Surrey really has something for everyone. the best thing is, it is well served by road & train connections, so you'll find it simple to get to it from London & a number of other british locations.

Just take a look at the tourism guide to Surrey that we have compiled below & you'll soon find out the hottest things to do during your stay in the area.

As we've probably already informed you, Surrey is the most wooded county in england. This is represented by Surrey County Council's emblem, which shows two interlinking oak leaves.

The diverse land scape of the county boasts aged woodlands, acid heaths & amazing grasslands. in fact, the Surrey Hills, which expand across a quarter of the county, are so amazing that they have been designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This region was concieved in 1958 and spans from Farnham to Oxted, & it extends further south to the wooded Greensand Hills near Haslemere.

If you are looking for a marvellous family day out, you could go to the open day at Busbridge Lakes for a beautiful picnic. on the other hand, you could take in the beautiful scenery placed around the pretty Chatley Heath Semaphore Tower or even at Outwood, which is home to the the oldest fully functioning windmill in england. The more adventurous visitor could also consider taking a boat trip along the Wey Navigation or even going on a bike ride along the Downs Link Path.

In addition to these outdoor activities, you will also be pleased to know that the Surrey towns of Leatherhead, Chertsey and Farnham boast occasionally marvellous museums, which contain the Ash Museum. For lovers of art, there's also the Forge & Dragon galleries or the Watts Picture Galleries, both of which exhibit some fine work. on the other hand, you could visit the superb Hogs Back Brewery at Tongham, which has over 500 varieties of beer for you to taste.

Surrey's many towns also open up many shopping opportunities to take advantage of. Woking is particularly competent for retail therapy as it has the Peacock Centre, which contains well-known names, containing Marks & Spencer, Toys R Us and Next. as well as this, Woking also has Wolsey Place Shopping - another shopping centre with well-known names. there's also a market placed in Woking's Peacock Walk, which is open Monday to Saturday.

On the other hand, you'll also find Dorking to be a wonderful destination for retail therapy. It has St Martin's Walk, which is a unique shopping precinct in the centre of town. although, the town centre also remains well known for its many antique shops. Dorking also has a thriving market on Fridays in the car park on St Martin's Walk.

In conclusion, we believe that Surrey really has something for all of us to enjoy. For more information on hotels, attractions and the county's historical woodland, please contact your local tourist information centre.
