Surrey is perceived as an affluent suburban territory that houses various London commuters. as a result, the area is often dubbed the gin and jag, stockbroker belt or the patio of London. however, the county has much more to offer than just homes.

In fact, 70 % of Surrey is green belt land, which can not be built on or turned into suburban residences. This makes the county a excellent location for ramblers, riders and cyclists to visit for a peaceful day out.

There are plenty of reasons to visit Surrey, but we have compiled some of the best and put them into the tourism guide below. Whether you're interested in rambling, bike riding, exploring historic places or even only shopping, we are sure that you will find something to interest you.

Surrey maybe easily reached by road and railway from the middle of london and it is also within simple reach of various other brit cities.

As we have probably already mentioned, Surrey is the most wooded county in england. This is represented by Surrey County Council's symbol, which shows a pair of interlocking oak leaves.

The varied landscape of the county includes historic woodlands, acid heaths and gorgeous grasslands. in actual fact, the Surrey Hills, which expand across 1/4 of the county, are so gorgeous that they have been denoted an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This territory was designed in 1958 and spans from Farnham to Oxted, and it extends further south to the wooded Greensand Hills near Haslemere.

If you're more interested in exploring actual scenes, museums & art galleries, you will also find that Surrey has plenty to offer you.

If you're planning a day out for the whole family, visit Chessington World of Adventures or Thorpe Park. These lively theme parks have some excellent rides, so you're guaranteed to have a excellent time there. on the other hand, there is the Rural Life Centre at Tilford, which offers a children's playground and sunday railway for younger children, or even Farnham’s bustling Birdworld and Underwater World, which gives you the opportunity to see some amazing animals.

For something a little more educational, you will be happy to know that Surrey boasts over forty museums. Some of our favourites are the cobham bus museum, clandon park, oakhurst cottage & the museum of farnham.

If you'd like to search in Surrey, you'll find some exciting market towns that have several places for you to bag a bargain. Cranleigh is one of our favourite spots, it is renowned as the biggest village in great britain and it has a quaint high street to compliment its rustic character. It also has a busy market every Tuesday and a sizable supermarket that can cater to your every day needs.

Alternatively, you could try Oxted. Oxted is a captivating location with a striking Tudor style high street that is sprinkled with a handful of chain stores and more specialist stores.

We have come to the end of our surrey guide, but we hope you have found it informative. If you require any more intelligence about this amazing county, simply get in touch with your locality tourist information office and they'll be happy to help you.
